The Nintendo Switch is a console/handheld hybrid that allows you to play games on your TV or on the go.
People have been speculating what Nintendo's next console will be ever since Iwata announced that Nintendo was working on a console codenamed the NX in March 2015. Well, today we finally know what it is. The Nintendo Switch is a blend of handheld and console gaming in a single package. The handheld is similar to a tablet and has detachable controllers on both sides called "Joy-Con" controllers. The two Joy-Con controllers can be combined into a more traditional gamepad to make playing on your TV easier. Nintendo also revealed a Pro controller that resembles an upgraded version of the Wii U Pro controller and is most likely sold separately. For home play the Nintendo Switch can be placed into a dock that connects to your TV.
During the 3-minute reveal trailer that Nintendo released you can catch snippets of various games such as Skyrim, NBA, Splatoon, Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda Zelda: Breath of the Wild and a brand new Mario game. Unfortunately, we don't know much else about the Nintendo Switch right now. Things such as tech specs, battery life, price and launch games are completely unknown. Nintendo also released a list of all companies that are working with Nintendo on the Switch. For now be sure to check out the official trailer below.
